A Fragment

Woozy sun blaring

Sticky sweat, lumbering and trudging through thick heavy air

Limbs languid, movements slow

A chorus of cicadas fills the stillness of the gorge

Puddles and trickles persist

On a different axis, the river burgeons and gurgles

Bones and ruins, branches and boulders cover the parched ground

In this dry, summer cathedral, thinking slows and presence blooms

The animate world holds me tenderly

A Fragment

Saltwater mouth, licklapping rocks

Lapis lazuli, cerulean, indigo

Aegean colours shifting, rippling, shimmering in our eyes

White thassian marble, boulders gleam and glint

With tightened snorkels we dive through Poseidon's turquoise realm

Schools of fish glide through the deep, floating and flicking through our minds

Foamy lips kissing rocks

Time lengthens, space widens

And cares are washed to sea

A Fragment

The night has been long

The dreams magnificent and exhausting

The nightmares brutal and devastating

Yet now is the time

The world is waiting for you, the world longs for you

Breakfast is ready, your family are gathered at the table

Sunlight is spilling through the windows and the children are playing in the garden

Wake up sleepy
